Steve thanks for your consideration. I didnt think that they could make you reinstitute PMI but you never know.I think that prices have changed so much that lenders must be getting creative so that they don't burned again. Lenders always have the upper hand in good markets and bad. Wondering if they still have leverage

Money girl:once PMI has been cancelled, can the lender require the PMI to be reinstated. I mean lets say that the PMI is cancelled because the loan has paid off a greater percentage of the value of the home. In your example,if the homeowner has paid off some of the loan or the home has appreciated as shown by the appraisal,PMI can be cancelled. But what if the appraisal shows the home has dropped 40%?
Can PMI need to be reinstated or once you are out from under the obligation you are out?

In the last few weeks HomeGain laid off almost 1/2 of its 120 person worforce. Revenues are woefully low and so is productivity. New initiatives at HomeGain (including the flawed valuation tool and AgentView) have failed to attract new business. Sadly, HomeGain's business strategy is doomed to fail and those inside the company believe it will cease to exist by the end of the year 2009. RIP in advance...

Why is Louis Cammarosano so hell bent on attacking Zillow every chance he gets? He is always disparaging the Zillow tool yet he trumpets his own tool on HomeGain which is even more inaccurate than Zillow's. I think it is just a bad case of envy because of the attention Zillow is garnering. BTW anyone who thinks a computer generated program can substitute the services of an appraisser or real estate agent deserves the ill-effects of their lack of common sense.
