Great tips! I am not a big coupon person as I hopelessly collect them, but forget to use them on time. Just the other day I was discussing with a friend of mine how annoying it to stand at the till when someone in front has numerous coupons for trivial amounts and they are not sorted! However, you are right that in the current climate every little helps. Kate from buy to let mortgages.

There are a lot of options besides just using coupons. In Columbus Ohio we have a website www.savoodle.com that allows you to simply use a loyalty card in place of coupons in many retailers. Check to see if there is anything available like that in your area.

I've never seen a coupon for carrots, per se, but I have often used coupons for frozen vegetables and some of them contained carrots. Not all coupons are for junk food and as far as the food coming from thousands of miles away the only way you can avoid that is to stay out of supermarkets entirely. That's a whole other topic.
Not everyone works a job where they can get overtime. Besides, the more OT you work, the more taxes you pay so the law of diminishing returns kicks in (hey, that might make a good MG topic--am I right, Ms. Adams, or is that an urban legend?). I'm not a big fan of coupons, either but I'd still rather try to figure out how to keep more of what I have than pay any more to Uncle Sam.

This show was a waste.
1. Coupons are offered for products that have high margins - junk food. Ever seen a coupon for carrots? Of course not. No profit in it.
2. Coupons restrict you to corporate brands: foods produced thousands of miles away and no environmental oversight. Irresponsible consumerism.
3. Even if you think coupons are useful, there was no info in this episode that wasn't common knowledge for the past 40 years.
4. This is a show about money. Can you at least make an attempt to show that spending hours clipping coupons and going to out-of-the-way stores for that "special deal" is worth anything? I'd rather do an hour of overtime for about equivalent change in my disposable income.
